What Size Solar Battery Do I Need for My Home?
The ideal battery size varies from household to household and should be selected based on your energy consumption patterns and solar generation.
Our team performs a detailed bill and usage analysis to determine how much energy is being imported from the grid, how much solar is being exported, and how much energy could realistically be stored and used from a battery.
Using this information we can recommend a battery size that balances performance, future flexibility and return on investment to meet your unique needs.
Can You Retrofit / Add Batteries to Existing Solar Energy Systems?
Yes, we can retrofit batteries to existing solar energy systems, including for homes and businesses. We use an AC-coupled method with Tesla or Sigenergy battery systems.

How Long Does It Take to Install a Solar Battery?
This can vary on a range of factors, including if you have an existing solar energy system, the size of your battery, where you are located and your particular roof.
In many cases, the installation can be completed within one to two business days once the installation commences but there may be cases where it could be longer. As part of the process, we’ll inform you of the time your installation will take and we’ll keep you in the loop as it progresses.
Can a Battery Be Used for Backup Power During an Emergency, Like During a Blackout?
Yes, a battery can be used as a backup power source during a power loss emergency. It can continue to provide power during a blackout or when external work is being performed on the power infrastructure leading to your premises.
We’ll advise you on a battery to suit the backup power needs of your home, business or organisation. Backup power solutions can be used to provide power to every circuit, such as a whole-home backup system. If your power needs are significant, backup battery systems can be used for specific circuits only, such as your lighting and select power points.
Could a Battery Help Save on Energy Costs?
A battery could help you save on energy costs overtime, particularly with the Cheaper Home Batteries Program federal rebate that is now available.
When the sun isn’t out and your panels aren’t capturing and providing energy, then your battery, rather than the grid, can first provide the power for your premises or designated circuits. This is effective throughout the evening, as you can use your own stored energy first, rather than relying entirely on the grid in the evening. Of course, for your battery to provide you with energy, it needs to be charged in the first place, such as through your solar panels.
Are Solar Batteries Worth It in Victoria?
Solar batteries can provide significant benefits in Victoria however the value of a battery depends on your individual circumstances.
Before making a recommendation we undertake a detailed assessment of your energy usage, electricity tariffs, solar generation, export levels and future energy requirements. We also take the time to understand your goals: whether that’s reducing electricity bills, increasing energy independence, providing backup power during outages or preparing for future loads such as electric vehicle charging.
Can Solar Batteries Charge an Electric Vehicle?
A solar battery can be used to supply energy to an electric vehicle provided the vehicle is connected via a suitable EV charger. An EV charger can be installed alongside a solar system and configured to charge directly from excess solar generation without any battery storage.
The battery stores energy generated by your solar system and can then discharge that stored energy to support household loads including EV charging. We can also integrate smart EV charging solutions that prioritise excess solar generation and battery storage to maximise self-consumption and minimise grid usage.
Do Solar Batteries Require Maintenance?
Solar batteries require very little ongoing maintenance.
Modern battery systems are designed to operate automatically, managing charging, discharging and system optimisation without requiring regular user intervention. Most of what’s involved is preventative rather than hands-on. Many manufacturers also provide remote monitoring and automatic software updates to ensure the system continues operating efficiently and securely.
Outside of occasionally reviewing system performance through the monitoring app, most customers rarely need to interact with their battery system. Provided the system remains operational and is regularly charged through normal solar generation or grid charging schedules the battery will continue to manage itself automatically.
As part of our installation process we also provide guidance on monitoring your system and are available to assist should any questions arise in the future.
